When concerned turns into consumed, that can be the beginning of compromise! EL

 Monday’s Mantra

Just two days away is the day we celebrate our individual freedom as well as that of our nation lest we never forget the cost. And while this freedom does include freedom of speech, I can’t help but wonder if we’ve become imprisoned by our political prattling. And no, this isn’t going to be any sort of political blog, so please, come on in and stay for a few minutes as I share from my heart to yours.

You can’t turn the T.V. on, or even do a Google search without some words of anger and conflict dancing across our eyes and into our mind, the seat of our soul. There is a fire of rage building in our country inflamed with opinions on every level. When did it stop being okay to agree to disagree without becoming so full of anger and hatred? Why do we have to try and force our opinions onto others and blast them for theirs? Why are we so inclined to return evil for evil?

I was talking just the other day with someone and he was sharing his frustration about all the compromising that’s happening around us, politically and otherwise, and he kept sharing, and sharing and I mean, the more he talked about it, the more frustrated he became.

When I felt it was appropriate to do so, I quietly said, it’s great to be concerned about our world, but are you concerned or consumed?

We know who wins, so what if we were to just live, and not speak, our convictions lest we become guilty of the compromising we see around us?

Tuesday’s Trench Truth

Thanks for joining us for a quick break and a moment of truth @ Coffee Hour with Chicklit Power and Trench Classes United. I absolutely love sharing these mini downloads I receive from Abba in the classroom of life.

I’ve known for many, many years that the mind is a powerful thing, and if you think about it, the brain only knows what you tell it. Why would I say that? Well, I’m glad you asked. I’ll tell you a very quick story that I remember as if it were yesterday, though it was lots and lots of years ago!

I had just started as a consultant for Princess House Crystal and I was a new mom. I attended my first rally and they were announcing the next contest with the prize being an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii! As I watched, listened, I was overwhelmed with excitement. I had never traveled outside the State of California since coming here at the age of 5, let alone get much farther than out of my city! 

The enthusiastic excitement was so contagious. I left the meeting as if in a trance and I remember saying over and over, “I’m going to Hawaii; I’m going to Hawaii.” Then sometimes doubt would kick in and I’d add, “I don’t know how I’m getting there, but I’m going!"

I repeated that every morning in the mirror and several times throughout the day. The results were astounding! It was a six-month contest which took me just three months to win, and I did go to Hawaii!  Coffee Hour Friend, words actually initiate actions. I’ve seen this truth come to light in a positive way and also in a not-so-positive way. In other words, it can work for us or against us.  Meditate on this truth for a bit, friend, and then consider joining us in May to learn how to transform from the inside out and get on track with life and all your relationships!

A transformed mind produces a transformed life!

Monday’s Mantra

What Do You See When You Look at Me?

Welcome to Monday’s Mantra @ Coffee Hour with Chicklit Power and Trench Classes United. I’m delighted you could join us for a bit of encouragement for the journey. Grab your break-time drink and your strand of faith and let’s go tie some knots together.

When asked if you know someone, and you don’t really remember if you do, usually we ask what they look like, right? Or when a guy or girl is going to meet a possible candidate for a date for the first time at the insistence of a “caring” friend who wants to set them up, usually the first question out of their mouth is, “What do they look like?” Oh, I just had another thought: what do people see when they look at me and how do they describe me? Yikes…let’s not go there! J J J

Have you ever wondered what Jesus looks like? We know Hollywood paints him as a guy with close-to-shoulder-length brownish hair, a beard to match, prominent cheek bones, beautiful gently piercing eyes and an incredible smile. I really don’t buy into the depictions of others as far as what He looks like, but maybe it’s time I start seeking His face more.  “When You said, ‘Seek My face,’ my heart said to You, Your face, Lord, I will seek.” Psalm 27:8

Too many times to count I’ve ready scriptures that instruct on seeking His face and to be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever taken any scripture concerning this subject literally. I mean, it’s not like He’s a stranger to me, but how can we seek His face when we don’t really know what He looks like?

And then it hits me…it’s not His appearance you’re seeking, silly, but His presence! Ohhhh, ding, ding, ding! The light is on!

Abba, teach me how to seek Your face as I strive to turn off the distractions that often interfere with my vision of your presence!
