Thursday’s Trench Truth

It’s okay to not always be okay, but wouldn’t it be great to feel great even when life is hard?
Learning how to live fueled by hope even when life is trying to knock us down, coming to a trench near you…

Hope to see you there

No matter what you’re going thru, your Heavenly Father gets you! EL

Wednesday’s Word

I sat there sipping my morning coffee, wondering how I’d make it thru the day. Life had been coming at me hard, on every side, from every angle. In addition to one of my most favorite human beings – my self-adopted mom – being put on hospice care, we had to tell our little 8-year-old grandson that his mommy was no longer with us, and we needed to be as close to the truth as we could without giving him all the details.
Thanks for joining me today for Wednesday’s Word as I share from my heart directly to yours!
Have you ever gotten something just in the nick of time? Maybe it was something monetarily or emotionally, or physically, whatever it was, do you remember exhaling a sigh of relief? Or what about receiving something you had no idea you needed as desperately as you did? That’s where I was this particular morning, just a few mornings ago. I was so sad, heavy-hearted, wanting to protect our little grandson from this loss that would surely affect him, his future.
I looked down at my coffee cup, one I have drank from hundreds of times and it was like seeing it for the very first time. Only instead of exhaling a sigh of relief, I inhaled…and held my breath, startled by the obvious voice of Him who pursues us relentlessly and loves us lavishly, going through great lengths to continuously express it. And then I smiled, encouraged by His command, His reminder that He had already gone ahead of me; everything would eventually be all right.
Words can’t express how encouraged I felt, so allow me to share my coffee cup with you that you too would be encouraged…no matter what you’re going through.

I love how He speaks to me; how He is so able to get my attention; He gets me!
Love,
Kim-Evinda

The chapters of life that we leave out catch up to us and though we try to forget them, often we repeat them! EL

When you pick up the book, do you look at the back, or the inside flap to get a feel for the story? Welcome to Coffee Hour with Chicklit Power and Thursday’s Trench Truth with Trench Classes United.
Do you take it a step further and perhaps begin the first chapter to see if it draws you in? That’s how I judge a book. But I know some people who take a sneak peak to see how it all ends without reading all the chapters in between. Without knowing it, we begin…and end relationships in this same way, picking and choosing what we want to bring to the table and reveal to the one we are trying to be in a relationship with.
Sooner or later, the chapters we left out catch up to us and many times because we have tried to forget them, we repeat them!
Learning how we were loved is the key to learning what to do…and not do in those relationships that mean so much to us: spouse, child, sibling, and/or friends. All of these relationships make up the classroom of our life, the only class that will ever really matter: how we love others.
We’d love for you to join us to learn how to love those you love by examining your full story! Check us out at www.trenchclassesunited.com

Stay in your now because He has your later! EL

I hurried into my car, pushed the buttons to open the garage and start the car, absentmindedly my thoughts were already ahead of where I was and I began backing up. The slow screeching jolt brought me back to where I was: in my car, backing out of my garage while my garage door was still opening!
Welcome to Coffee Hour with Chicklit Power and Wednesday’s Word with Trench Classes United
I looked in my rear-view mirror and was horrified to see the garage door midair, and the bottom metal piece pulled away from its rightful place to the tune of two or three feet. I was literally terrified to get out and look at my car. I just knew it had to be dented on the top and trunk. I held my breath as I got out, trying not to cuss myself out for my stupidity.
I looked…and looked for the damage to my car: first on the roof, and then down to the trunk, and I let my eyes gaze slowly, scanning up and down, and then finally, I saw it! The fin on top of my roof looked as though Jaws had put his teeth into it…but that was it! I think I held my breath that whole time as I was searching and searching for the inevitable damage. I let out a huge sigh of relief, exclaiming praise to God for His grace in this situation. It could have been and should have been so much worse.
Has that ever happened to you where you know that you know that you didn’t get what you deserved? What is so amazing about our Abba is that He doesn’t scold us with scalding anger; He corrects us with His love. He doesn’t point fingers; He opens His arms.
That sudden screech of the garage door trying to open and the jolt of my car were great reminders of His love for me which enables me to stay in my now, assuring me He has my later! Oh, how true Matthew 6:34 rings: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

I don’t know about you, Coffee Hour Friend, but sometimes I can be so focused on the next thing to do, or my thoughts can wander over into another day and then I miss the blessings in the moment. Stay in your moments to recognize the relentless love and grace of a Loving Father who watches out for us, chases after us, and desires to dwell within us.
Love,
Kim-Evinda

Why do we wait until things are bad to try & make them better?

“I didn’t know that things were so bad that we had to take a class,” she repeated for me. I sat and listened as she recounted the rest of her reasons for not returning to our current class, seriously wanting to scream with exasperation…but I didn’t. J
Welcome to Coffee Hour with Chicklit Power and Invitation Thursday with Trench Classes United.
What came out of my mouth was the cry of my heart: Why do we think we have to wait until things are really bad to try and make them better?

Wednesday’s Word

First Steps

Matthew 19:26 “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by for Coffee Hour and Wednesday’s Word @ Chicklit Power and Trench Classes United.  As I write from my heart to yours, I pray that you will be compelled to ties some knots in your strand of faith, strengthening it for those times when you feel wobbly, and unable to take the next step.
Last Saturday, I was busy in my home office and above the noise in my head I heard George calling me, and not just calmly, but there was a hint of urgency in his voice so I dropped whatever I was doing and his next words rendered me running towards him. “Isaiah’s walking!” I must have made it to him in three seconds. He was sitting on the couch looking at a video on his phone and I could hear my son’s voice, and my daughter-in-love’s voice. I bent down and looked at the video, and got teary eyed as I watched our little just-turned-one-year-old grandson ever so tentatively, thoughtfully and not quite so confidently begin to take his first steps.
Sure, mommy was bribing him with some treats…but our Father has treats for us, too, when we hold our hand out to Him and allow Him to help us!
He had one hand outstretched to his mommy, his gaze never leaving her face, not even for a second. He was so, so focused, determined to do it…and he wasn’t in a hurry. In the background was his daddy, “Come on, little guy; you can do it!” Then a gasp, “look! Look! Look! He’s taking another one!”
The encouragement from his mommy, daddy, and big brother and sister added to the beauty of this monumental moment in this little guy’s life. You could feel all of their excitement; it was as if I was almost right there – of course it made me want to be soooo bad. It won’t be long before he’s walking so fast and mommy and daddy have to chase him!
Watching those tentative first steps got me to thinking – uh-oh! Like the first steps of a child, we too are asked to take first steps toward seemingly uncomfortable situations and circumstances which require encouragement from others and focus and courage from the one stepping out. With each step taken, confidence comes.
Every one of us has had to take a “first step” many times over; and if you think about it, that’s what life is all about, first steps towards newness of life, whether it be a first step toward sobriety, a new attitude, a new relationship, a new job, a new home, a new healthy habit to replace an old unhealthy one, or what about that first step toward healing a broken relationship?
Many times we find ourselves overwhelmed with life, wondering how we are going to get through it. Could it be that we are to be just like little Isaiah, keeping our eyes on our Father, our hand held out, accepting His help to move forward one step at a time?
Life moves fast enough without us making it a race…let’s learn to walk it one step at a time, hand in hand with the One who will always pick us up if we falter!
Love,,
Evinda
